1. Did camp meet you and your camper’s needs and expectations? The place should have helped growth in many ways, especially socially, and in self-confidence, initiative, and self discipline. It should have helped build a sense of values, an appreciation for nature and the outdoors; it should have encouraged resourcefulness and self reliance. We want it to be fun, adventure, growth and education. Given that challenges are occasionally frustrating (necessarily so), how well did we meet those goals? What are your suggestions for improvements?

2. We operate on a structured but non-regimented basis, which we like because it allows and helps develop initiative and self direction. Some youngsters, not being used to this kind of freedom, have some difficulty with it initially, though most adapt quickly. How do you think this worked for your camper? Was there any difficulty in getting into activities? Was there enough guidance from the counselor? Although skills are not the primary measure of the summer, do you feel that your camper “did enough”?

3. Do you have any particular observation on the staff, perhaps especially your camper’s cabin counselor? Include the name if you can.

4. Do you think your camper will be with us next summer? If not, we’d like to know why! (Dates, cost, length of session, dissatisfaction with camp, etc.)

5. Would you be willing to assist us in contacting other families who would have an interest in our kind of camp? (That could be as simple as a reference for interested families, or as involved as hosting a gathering of camp prospects and serving as camp representative.) We depend largely on such word-of-mouth referrals.
