Billy Hoyt, from Birmingham, AL, attends Auburn University and will here for his 1st year on staff. Billy was a camper for 5 summers. In fact, all of his siblings were Mondamin and Green Cove campers as well. Billy enjoys competitive swimming, paddling, and biking. He is also an active hunter and fisherman.
Bill Felder, from Dallas, TX, but with a home here in Tuxedo, will be back for his 17th summer on staff. Bill was a camper in the ’60s and ’70s and now oversees our sailing program. He enjoys flying planes and fly fishing. His two sons have previously been on our staff, as has his wife, Katharine.
Carter Bomar, from Chapel Hill, NC, attends Lehigh University and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 8 summers, including 1 as a CT! His siblings were Mondamin and Green Cove campers as well. Carter enjoys backpacking, climbing, and paddling.
Jonah D’Antonio, from Sewickley, PA, will be back for his 4th year on staff. He spent 7 summers as a camper, including 1 as a CT. He attends Fort Lewis College studying History and Secondary Education. Jonah is a whitewater paddler, rock climber, and mountain biker.
Adlai Kohn, from Asheville, NC, attends The University of Colorado Boulder and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 5 summers. Adlai is a whitewater paddler, climber, and gymnast - including a shootoff of gymnastics called freerunning.
Julio Cubillan, from Caracas, Venezuela, attends the Universidad Metropolitana and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 3 summers. His father and his siblings were all Mondamin and Green Cove campers as well. Julio enjoys sailing, backpacking, and paddling.
Bunyan Morris, from Statesboro, GA, is returning for his 6th summer running our arts and crafts program. He has a Masters degree in Art Education and has taught for many years. Bunyan melds his love of art with his appreciation of nature. He is a certified Wilderness First Responder and helps lead some crafty trips in the backcountry.
Everett Driver, from Chattanooga, TN, attends Sewanee (The University Of The South) and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 4 summers, as was his brother. Everett is a sailor, climber, and backpacker. He has worked with children as a lifeguard at his school’s summer camps.
Simon Taylor, from Atlanta, GA, attends the University of Georgia and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 6 summers. Simon is a mountain bike racer, paddler, and tennis player. Besides Mondamin, Simon also has experience working with young kids at his synagogue.
Jon Mullen, from Charlotte, NC is back for his 19th summer as our talented photographer. In addition to being a K-5th science teacher, Jon is a beekeeper, a certified massage therapist, and a piano teacher. He does occasional voice-over work, is a published author, and speaks multiple languages. He was the “Science Superhero” for the Discovery Channel a few years ago.
Fletcher Gillespie, from Charlottesville, VA, attends the University of Virginia and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. Fletcher was a camper for 5 summers. Both of his brothers attended Mondamin as well. He is a backpacker, mountain biker and paddler. He gained experience recently working at Woodberry Sports Camp.
Bette Mann, from Campobello, SC is returning for her 6th year leading the riding program; she was on the Green Cove staff for a few years as well and was a camper there for 6 summers. A former Pony Clubber (with an H Rating), Bette lived and worked in London just after college and was able to travel a great deal.
Robert Brewer, from Caracas, Venezuela, is returning for his 2nd year on staff after graduating from the Universidad Metropolitana. Robert was a camper here for 3 summers. His father and all 3 siblings are Mondamin & Green Cove alumni as well. Robert has traveled a great deal and plays piano and guitar.
Jack Quinn, from Mount Pleasant, SC, attends the St Andrews and William & Mary Joint Degree Program and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. Jack was a camper for 6 summers. His sister is a Green Cove alum. Jack is a mountain biker, swim team member, and a naturalist. He gained experience recently working at a summer camp for basketball and track & field.
Gibson Goodrich, from Birmingham, AL, attends Tufts University and will be here for his 1st year on staff. He was a camper here for 8 summers, and his sister was a camper and counselor at Green Cove. Gibson is a mountain bike racer, climber, and backpacker. He gained experience working with youth by helping organize a middle school model UN conference.
Matthew Boyd, from Winston-Salem, NC, will return for his 3rd summer and attends Furman University. Matthew was a camper here for 8 summers. His father and both sisters are Mondamin & Green Cove alumni as well! He is a lifeguard and a Wilderness First Responder and enjoys playing lacrosse and golf.
Jeff Schlosser, from Saluda, NC will return for his 8th summer running the Boat Shop & Woodworking program. Boat Shop gets boys directly involved in the building of traditional canvas-covered wooden canoes. From “steaming” wood for bending, to painstakingly sanding and tacking ribs in place - they get to be a part of it all. Jeff is a 7-time Championship Nascar Cup series body fabricator.
Will Thiessen, from Zirconia, NC, attends Greenville Technical College and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. Will was a camper for 7 summers. Both his brother and sister were Mondamin and Green Cove campers as well and his dad is a longtime year-round staff member. Will is a swimmer, paddler, and sailor.
William Harvey, from Asheville, NC, attends Washington State University and will be here for his 1st summer on staff. He was a camper for 6 summers, his brother was a Mondamin camper as well. William worked last summer for the Utah Conservation Corps and enjoys backpacking, sailing, and climbing.
Ben Abbott, from Louisville, Ky, will be here for his first summer on staff! Ben was a camper at Mondamin for 8 summers, and his three sisters were campers at Green Cove. His older sister is also a counselor. Ben is a hiker, sailor, and tennis player.
Alex Scharnberg, from Charlotte, NC, and will be back to run our nature program for his 15th summer! Alex attended Hobart College and got a political science degree and his Master’s at UNC Charlotte in Middle and Secondary education, he now teaches 7th grade science. In his free time he tends his collection of over 300 orchids and other tropical plants in his greenhouse, as well as a multitude of exotic fish, reptiles, and other small critters.
Phoebe Jones, from Shropshire, UK, currently attends Bournemouth university and will be here for her 1st year on staff! She has taken part in horseback riding since she was a child, and has volunteered at her local stables. In her free time she also enjoys archery and swimming.
Donna Sinnott, from Wexford, Ireland,is currently attending South East Technological University and will be here for her 1st year on staff! She has taken part in horseback riding since the age of 10 and has had experience working with horses of all abilities. In her free time she also enjoys swimming and walking.
Brian McWilliams, from Atlanta, Georgia, will be here for his 1st summer on staff! He was a camper for 1 summer, and his brother was a Mondamin camper and counselor as well. Brian is a Climber, Paddler and gymnast. He’s gained experience working with youth by being a gymnastics instructor for 3 years.
Nayua Daza, from Bogotá, Colombia, attends Pilot University and will be here for her 1st summer on staff! She is excited to share her knowledge of riding with our campers. She has experience working with her friends and cousins helping them learn to ride horses. In her free time she enjoys hiking and riding her bike.
Thomas French, from Birmingham, AL, will be here for his 1st summer on staff! He was a camper for 5 summers. He attends Lehigh University studying Mechanical Engineering. Thomas enjoys climbing, paddling and backpacking, and he plays soccer. He gained experience recently volunteering at Sawyerville Summer Camp.
Charlie Sherrill, from Bradenton, FL, attends Sewanee (The University of The South) and will be here for his 1st year on our staff! This will be his 2nd year as a camp counselor. Charlie was a camper for 1 summer. His sibling, 2 cousins and uncle went to Mondamin as well. Charlie has a great interest in nature and hiking, and is also a NOLS alumni.
George Acworth, from Bournemouth, UK, is coming for his 1st year on staff! He graduated from the University of Buckingham and has been working in the NHS in various roles. In his free time you can find him coaching junior soccer, swimming or playing tennis.
Gavin Coffield, from Stokesdale, NC, will be here for his first summer on staff! He currently attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studies chemistry and is a member of the cheerleading team. In his free time Gavin enjoys backpacking, the outdoors, and any and all sports.
Noah Tsubaki, from Salt Lake City, Utah, will be here for his 1st summer on staff! Noah is an avid mountain biker and competed on his highschool’s downhill team. Noah enjoys everything outdoorsy and can be found enjoying Utah’s slopes on his skis during the winter. In his free time he enjoys playing both the piano and the flute.
Frazier Gardella, originally from Potomac Maryland, has a home in Hendersonville N.C. as well as Naples Fl.. Frazier was a camper back in the 60’s. In addition, 2 of his 3 sons attended camp, and this year his Grandson Andrew will be attending June camp. Frazier has participated in many competitive sports, including football, track, gymnastics, karate and cycling. In addition he has numerous years of sailing experience, and actively enjoys mountain biking and hiking in Western N.C..
Tia Towning, from Lincolnshire, UK, will be here for her first year on Staff! Tia is a graduate of the National Horseracing College, and has been riding horses since she was very young. She spends a lot of her free time riding horses, and also enjoys hiking and swimming.
Abraham Reyes, from Puebla, Mexico, attends BUAP University studying medicine. He will be here for his first summer on staff! Abraham is an avid mountain biker. In his free time he enjoys playing sports, riding bikes, and spending time in nature.
Sebastian Campusano, hailing from Madrid, Spain, is immersed in self-study pursuing his passion for fashion design with dreams of studying abroad. Joining the staff for the first time this summer, Sebastian boasts skills as a water polo player, holds a black belt in judo, and serves as a proficient lifeguard.
John Lane, from Lexington, KY, will be on staff for his 5th summer! John graduated with a degree in History from the University of Kentucky and is working towards a Masters in Education. John loves hiking and backpacking, his years on staff have helped him realize that he wants to become a teacher. John also hopes to one day be the President of the United States
Sheridan Pipkin, from Rougemont NC, is here for her 1st summer on staff. Sheridan spent 6 years working for the Boy Scouts as a head wrangler and waterfront director. After spending nearly her entire life riding horses, Sheridan has spent the past several years as a professional groom for top level riders across the country. She is also an avid hiker, swimmer, and photographer.
John Marx, from Winston Salem, NC, is returning to staff for his third summer after an 8 year hiatus. John was a camper at Mondamin and spent five summers on the Mountaineering staff. He later spent time as a wilderness therapy instructor in the Pisgah forest. John currently works in Winston Salem as a clinical social worker. In his free time, John loves to climb, bike, trail run, read books and travel.
Patrick Gibbons, another Dallas, TX native, Mondamin camper 1972-1976, sailing counselor 1984, Alumni/Family Camper 2018 and 2022, and very excited to be back this summer. An Eagle Scout and Ironman finisher who’s worked in multiple fields as engineer, manager and entrepreneur, been responsible for dozens of youth aged 13+ on international mission trips to 8 countries including China, Russia, and India. Enjoys people, critters, the outdoors, and restoring 4 and 2 wheeled antique vehicles. Present bucket list item - full through hike of the AT.
Jackson Lammers, from Asheville, NC, attends Northern Michigan University where he is studying Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management. He will be here for his 2nd summer on staff, and he was a camper for one summer. His sisters spent many summers at camp Green Cove as well. Jackson is a Wilderness first responder, and enjoys backpacking and climbing.
Pat Cudd, from Six Mile, SC, will return for his 4th summer on staff! Pat is attending nearby Clemson University. Pat was a camper for 4 summers, and is looking forward to another year leading sailing trips. A self-taught musician, he is passionate about guitars, drums, piano, bass, and other such cacophony. Patrick is a Wilderness First Responder, dedicating free time in nature, whitewater kayaking, hiking, and sailing.
Soren Timura, from Arlington, VA, is a junior and a biology major at Davidson College. He will be coming back for his second year on staff! Soren was a camper for 3 years and enjoys paddling, climbing, and backpacking and has experiance leading outdoor trips for Davidson College.
Gareth Rattray-Wood, from Melbourne, Australia, attends the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and will be his first summer at camp! In his free time he enjoys playing sports and being outdoors. Gareth was a Scout for 10+ years and is excited to share his experiances and knowledge of the outdoors.
John Mason, from Charlottesville, VA, just graduated from Davidson College with a degree in Economics and will be back for his 3rd summer on staff. He was a camper for 9 summers with his brother, and enjoys mountain biking in his free time. This year John will serve as a linehead and help facilitate the Aide program for our oldest campers.
